MetroPCS

MetroPCS offers wireless phone service to customers in select metro areas across the US. In 2013, MetroPCS was bought by T-Mobile US. The new company is merging the two networks, but maintaining separate brands and phone lineups for some time. MetroPCS provides plans with one flat monthly cost for unlimited service, with no contract. Metro's newer networks in major cities use the 1700 MHz (AWS) frequency band, while original networks in regional areas use 1900 MHz (PCS) frequency band. Metro now offers 4G service using LTE technology. The original MetroPCS network was built using CDMA 2G technology. The company has relatively agressive LTE plans, hoping to phase out CDMA completely, sooner than most other carriers.
